As a result of recent significant passenger growth and continued forecasted growth over the long term, the San Francisco International Airport needed to address future parking capacity needs, particularly for long-term projected demand.
FMG Architects worked as part of a joint venture to design and build a new parking facility located within LOT DD. The site had an existing parking structure and surface parking and is adjacent to Lot D. FMG completed all design packages on time and on budget.
This garage will be a certified green Parksmart garage, and will achieve net-zero energy consumption via the use of photovoltaic panels and other sustainability features. The parking garage also features baggage drop off, dry cleaning, valet parking, car wash, and kennel services.
The Airport utilized a Design-Build method of project delivery for this Project to integrate the Contractor and Architectural & Engineering services throughout the Project to improve the reliability of design, quality of documentation and accuracy of cost models, as well as to plan and organize the sequence of construction.
